Natalie Portman's Body Double is causing a stir accusing Natalie Portman and the film "Black Swan" of minimizing her role in the film as a body double. Natalie Portman's body double Sara Lane appears to have everyone in a fit to defend Natalie Portman and the authenticity of "Black Swan's" choreographed moves.
Natalie Portman won her first Oscar for her role in "Black Swan". The movie surrounded the tormented life of a ballet dancer. Ballet dancing is a difficult craft to master and Natalie's body double in the movie felt that her work was being undermine.
Sarah tells Entertainment Weekly, "Of the full body shots, I would say five per cent are Natalie... I do want people to know that you cannot absolutely become a professional ballet dancer in a year and a half no matter how hard you work. I've been doing this for 22 years."
Natalie's fiancé Benjamin Millepied who choreographed the film stated, "85 per cent of that movie is Natalie".
"There are articles now talking about her dance double that are making it sound like [her body double] did a lot of the work, but really, she just did the footwork, and the fouettés, and one diagonal phrase in the studio," he continued.
Now Fox Searchlight bosses have stepped in with a statement of their own, "We were fortunate to have Sarah there to cover the more complicated dance sequences and we have nothing but praise for the hard work she did. However, Natalie herself did most of the dancing featured in the final film."
